Why Is This Rating Important?
Most people buy their home insurance, auto insurance, or business insurance from companies that are well known. People often make their insurance purchase as a result of TV advertising that connects a buyer to an insurance company. Many people do not give a second thought to the insurance company’s financial rating, but they should. You buy insurance to protect yourself and your family in the event of a loss. If the insurance company does not have financial strength, they may not be able to pay your claim.
Every insurance company is subject to a rating by the A.M. Best Company, a credit rating agency with more than 100 years of history. The company was founded in 1899 by Alfred M. Best. Every year Best's reviews each insurance company's financial performance and underwriting practices and assigns a rating from A++ to F. A++ is the highest rating available, and only a few insurance companies in the nation typically earn this rating.
We feel it's important to place your insurance company with an insurer that has a Best's rating of A or better. Our agency also monitors these ratings and we can make recommendations as needed. Some agents may use lower rated insurers who may cut rates to gain business, but in the end may be unable to pay claims.
